Brand New Silk Garden

Yipee! Hooray!

We are so happy to report that 10 brand new Silk Garden colous came in just yesterday. And these are not just new to the Sheep, they are new to the world! Thats right 10 new colours that you have never seen before, now you can understand our excitement!



Here they are in all their spleandour! In all we have 21 colours to choose from in this lovely worsted weight wool/silk/mohair blend. As one of Noro's most popular yarns, these new Silk Garden colourways have all the rustic charm you've come to love, in an all new selection of genious colour combinations!

You may remember the striped scarf Lisa made last winter in Silk Garden and Noro Cash Iroha...just in case you didn't, here's another look...





While shelving our new colours yesterday I found myself dreaming up new colour combinations (which are infinate, let me tell you!) Drop by to take a look at these lovely new shades, and perhaps create a new colour combo all your own!

You've been asking for an update...

and at long last, here it is...



My Wisteria sweater is comming along wonderfully! Just last week I seperated the arms and moved onto knitting the stocking stitch body of the sweater. I'm quite pleased to report that it's knitting quickly now that I'm finished with the cables. Because I'm knitting with Malabrigo I seem to want to spend every moment knitting (luckily for you customers I've been able to pull myself away from my knitting long enough to help you select yarn!)This is turning out to be a very soft and luxurious sweater!
I expect that I'll have the body done quickly, and then I'll be back to grumbling about cabling and having to concentrate. Until then you will find me gleefully knitting on the body next time you visit the shop!
I'll be sure to keep you posted on my progress, and to all concerned, there will certainly be more of my lovely sahpire green colourway coming in! (which is much more splendid in person than in the above photo, you really must see it in person to understand!)

New Sirdar Patterns and Yarn

We received Sirdar's new Eco Wool DK Yarn, Book one and Book two:

I want to knit almost everything in these books with the Eco Wool DK yarn. Which one first????







Eco DK is made from 100% un-dyed virgin wool and only natural products have been used in the processing. The shades have been created by carefully blending the natural shades of raw wool. Each ball is $6.99 and has 109 yards. Recommended gauge is 22 stitches.

Baby Surprise Jacket

Another sample at the shop. One of our friendly wonderful Naked Sheep knitters, Becky knit this Baby Surprise Jacket with two balls and a bit of the third ball of Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino. If you wanted to make it with just two balls you can knit two less stripes. Or you can use the rest of the third ball to make baby booties.

This BSJ pattern was designed in the 60's by a fab knitter, Elizabeth Zimmerman who to this day - her patterns are still knit and enjoyed by thousands of knitters around the world. At this point there are 8,991 BSJ projects on Ravelry. Check them all out HERE.

New Sample Alert! Liesl is Done!

Here she is - Liesl.

Sarah knit us one more sweater before she headed off to school. She knit the 38" size and used exactly one ball of Cascade Eco on 7 mm needles and made few modifications to the sweater. After the sleeves were separated, she knit the purl rows to eliminate the purl ridges on the body.

This sweater is knit from the top down and you can use most yarns from a worsted to aran weight. Ysolda provides instructions for a shorter length sweater, a wide and high neck options and has great pictures of all styles on her site.

Here is Sarah's version she knit for herself - she used 3 skeins of Cascade 220, 7.5mm and knit the 46" size. I don't know about you, but I can't decide which colour to make for myself. A grey one? A purple one? The same colour as Sarah? Blue? Ack!!!

We are very happy to report that a fresh supply of Go Knit pouches just arrived at the shop! We are even happier to report that the brand new metallic silver colour is amongst them, as well as a lovely purple called "orchid", in honor of the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's!

Fiona Ellis!

You have probably seen her designs and books around (and you've likely knit one or two of them yourself!) and we are very excited to have Fiona Ellis at the Sheep this October to teach two fantastic workshops. Hope to see you there!

Morphing Cables:
Fiona is famous for her morphing cables, which morph into other patterns! Whether you are a cabling expert or newbie, come on out to learn a thing or two about how to make your cable knitting more fun and interesting! Fiona will touch on cable design as well as making Celtic knot cables.

Dive into Design:
Get your creative knitting juices flowing with this 2-part workshop in design. In part one you will experiment with swatching, and transforming inspiration into knitting. In part two you will learn how to refine your ideas from part one. All skill levels are welcome!

Date/Time: Saturdays October 3 and 10 from 9 am-12 - total of 6 hours!
