Open House Sock

Yes, these really ARE the cutest socks you've ever seen! They are knit with just 50 grams of sock yarn, just one skein of Koigu will do the job nicely, and thats what we've used here!

These socks were designed to keep them in your purse when you are visiting and need to keep your feet toasty warm after you have removed your shoes or boots. They will be especially useful in the winter months! Really, you can't keep a pair of slippers in your purse at all times, but these socks you can! They are small and compact!

This entire project costs just $18, doesn't get much better than that! Another great sock pattern from Kate at Wisehilda knits!

NEW YARN: Noro Bonbori!

Hooray a lovely new chunky yarn from Noro! Bonbori is 94% wool and 6% nylon, knits into stripes (an effect we have come to love from Noro, of course!) and is a perfect weight for cool weather and quick knitting, it can't get much better!

Hats, mitts and scarves are some suggestions to knit with this yarn. The colours are so nice! Currently we are knitting some mittens for a sample and they should be done soon.

Each skein is 83 yards and is $11.00/ball. Two balls is enough for a pair of mitts.

New Colours of Qina!

Yippee - we thought there was some pretty good colours in this yarn before, but we were way wrong! New colours include purple, steel grey, light blue, dark blue. Lookie here:

This yarn is a 80% Alpaca 20% Bamboo blend that is soft and drapey and oh so lovely to knit with. Sarah used this yarn to knit the Springtime Bandit:

There are so many projects you can use with this yarn - the possibilities are endless. Each skein is 85 yards and cost $8.95/skein. We used four for Springtime Bandit for a total project cost of $35.00 plus tax! If you need to knit a quick and stunning gift, this might be the project for you.

Lustra and Peruvia Quick

My friends, I want to tell you how wonderful the new yarns we received are, Berroco Lustra and Peruvia Quick, but I can't really find the words to describe the unbelievable softness, rich colours, the textures of these yarns. You will need to come on in and feel them for yourself.
This week Lustra arrived at our door. This yarn is a 50/50 blend of merino and tencel and looks like silk made it's way into the yarn. With 175 yards and each skein $10.50 - it is an amazing yarn for any project you dream up. We ordered all the colours available!

Peruvia Quick, with 103 yards at $9.50 - can you say awesome Christmas gift???? One ball is enough for a regular scarf or hat. Take two and you have one awesome long scarf!!!

Again, all the colours of this yarn are in their little cubes, just waiting for you to knit them into some spectacular!

Giant Project Bags Available!!

I think pictures can do all the talking at times, and these project bags really don't need a lot of words to describe them:

Each one is fully lined with two inside pockets and a drawstring to close everything up that you are carrying. Each one is $30.00 and currently we have four at the shop!

As you can see they are quite large - I could fit the top half of my body in one of them!

Thanks Missy for making an awesome bag!

Whisper Cardigan

The samples have been flying off Lisa's needles lately, and here is another to add to the list...

IMG_3769

...it's the Whisper Cardigan by Hannah Fettig! The pattern is from the Spring 2009 issue of Interweave Knits magazine.

Lisa knit it in Estelle Cadenza, a merino/ silk blend fingering weight yarn, that is lightweight, soft and squishy...and she only used 2 skeins! At $16.99 - its a steal!

This cute little shrug/cardigan hybrid also looks lovely knit in a laceweight yarn, which results in an even lighter and arier garment, we reccomend Malabrigo lace! Whichever way you choose to knit it, this project is lots of fun, and great mindless knitting...I know I'm always on the lookout for a good knit night project!

Happy knitting folks!

personal footprints...

...for Insouciant Sock Knitters!

We all loved (though we may have struggled a little bit with) New Pathways for Sock Knitters, Cat Bordhi's first sock book. Fearless sock knitters step forward because your world is about to be rocked by Cat's second sock book; Personal Footprints for Insouciant Sock Knitters.

IMG_3788

I can't say much more about the book at this point, as I haven't had the chance to read through it thoroughly yet. I can tell you, however, that you should keep you eyes out for some amazing socks, which are sure to be walking the streets of Toronto this winter!

I almost forgot...Cat has updated one I my favourite patterns from New Pathways, the Coroilis sock! Now you can knit it in an all new construction, but to find out what that is you'll have to take a look at her new book!

New Yarn - Painted Fleece Silver Yarn!

Oh man oh man, this yarn is the best we have received in a very long time! The Painted Fleece dropped off 30 skeins of a merino/silk/STERLING SILVER blend fingering weight yarn on Saturday. There are no words to describe how lovely the colours are, so let the pictures speak volumes:

Each skein contains 420 yards, cost $30.00/skein and we have two of each colour. Believe it or not, there are only 24 skeins left - six skeins are already gone since we took this picture!
