Juliet!

We recently received one of the most beautiful yarns on the planet - Rowan Cocoon. It is a nice bulky yarn oh so lovely to knit with! The colours are out of this world and has a very nice sheen. It took me a bit of time to decide which pattern to choose to make a sample for the shop and thankfully I decided on Juliet. Here she is on our mannequin:

Juliet

And on a real live model that looks like it was totally made for her:

This is Sarah - Emily's sister and when she put this on, I was speechless - it looks so good on her (if you knew me, this is no easy feat!) This sweater is knit top down, has a very easy lace pattern and looks good on all body types. Furthermore, you can knit it with a summer OR winter yarn, add buttons or make it longer. While we are at it - why not add longer sleeves? The possiblities of making this sweater fit YOU are endless.

Loyalty Program & Stitch Markers & New Books!!!

I am a huge believer in the loyalty card program and have re-introduced it back at the Sheep. It is very simple, for every $25.00 you spend before taxes, you get a card with a pinkie sheep stamped on it! When there are 12 stamps on the card, you get 10% off your next purchase. The only exception is, class fees are not eligible. Simple, non?

We also have some really cute stitch markers the Zephyr Girls made for us:

Naked Sheep Stitch Markers

They are $15.99 and come in a super cute tin. I LOVE them. Good news doesn't end here - we have some of the Zephyr Girls patterns:

- Juliet
- 28 30
- Green Gable
- Rusted Root
- Marigold

Great things keep coming to us!! New books:

Thank you for your Support!

Just wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to all that have supported me and the Naked Sheep team since I took over running this fabulous fiber shop in August 2008. The last four months have been filled with so much fun that it doesn't even feel like real work. I think what makes it feel so great is all the awesome folks who have walked through my shop door. I hope you feel as welcome as much as I enjoy talking and knitting with you all.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I hope 2009 is filled with such fiber fun as it was in 2008.

Knit on!

Happy New Year!

Hope everyone's holidays were awesome and you are not finding it too hard to get back into the swing of things. We just got over our boxing week sale, inventory night and thankfully, things are back to normal at the Sheep - well, as normal as it can be!

We are expecting some new colours of Classic Elite Princess (we can't seem to keep it in its' shelf!), Lush and some amazing new Alpaca Sox colours. Oneof the new yarns include Classic Elite Duchess - which is the same fiber content as Princess, but knits up to 3.5"/inch. Lovely stuff!

Knit Nights start this Wednesday = January 7th, 6ish to 10ish. I so missed my knitters the last few weeks and glad I am only two days away from a fab evening. Can't wait to see everyone.

Knit on.

New Handcrafted Glass Buttons!

As seen in the Fall 2008 Vogue issue, Bejeweled and Bedazzled handcrafted glass buttons. We are thankfully the artist creating these wondering buttons lives in Toronto and paid a visit to our shop. We have quite a few of her wonderful creations and hope you like them too.

Here is a snap shot of a few we have in the shop:

Buttons!

They are all beautiful and would like nice on a new hand knit item - or put them on an existing sweater!

Free Pattern! - The Manly Scarf

It's getting to be that time of year again, the scarf wearing, and giving time!
I finished this scarf recently to give to my boyfriend, Dave.  He lost his old one on the streetcar!

DSC02442.JPG

It's easy, and looks great, and the combination of black with the variegated colourways of Malabrigo makes it nice and manly.  Plus it's got absolutely zero itch factor – Malabrigo is soft enough for even the pickiest of mens necks!  Here you go!

The Manly Scarf

Needles : 4.5 or 5mm
Yarn : Malabrigo Worsted - two skeins, one black, one other colour

Cast on 25 stitches with the black yarn
knit two rows
switch to the second colour, and knit two rows
switch to the black yarn, carrying it up the side of the scarf, being careful not to pull too tightly.

Continue knitting two rows of each colour and switching, carrying the yarn up the side, until the scarf is the desired length, or you run out of yarn! (I used about half of a ball of each colour) End with two rows of black.
Cast off loosely, weave in ends.
Wrap, and place under the tree, for a fantastic present for the men in your life!

Sock Yarn Galore!

It has been awhile since we last posted, and we are so sorry! We have some great news and I find it hard to contain the excitment.

We have received so much sock yarn in the last week, we are bursting at the seams. Look at all the FA sock yarn we received:

Fleece Artist #2

And another picture in it's home:

Fleece Artist Tower

We also received new colours of Misti Alpaca Sock Yarn:

New Colours of Misti Alpaca Sock Yarn

Not sure if this is the best for last or not, but it comes pretty close! This is one of the new yarns we have brought into the Naked Sheep = Classic Elite Alpaca Sox. The picture doesn't do it justice. Please come in and feel it - it is so freaking soft.

New Alpaca Sox Sock Yarn

Each skein will make a pair of socks and the price range is between $22.00 to $27.00.

WE promise to post more of the fiber goodness more often as we can't be the only ones to enjoy such fab stuff.

Knit On.
